Social enterprise network

The Merseyside Social Enterprise Initiative (MSEI) started in July 2001. Initially led by NWDA and supported by Merseyside Expanding Horizons as Accountable Body, MSEI is developing through a wide and inclusive partnership, the Merseyside Social Enterprise Group

MSEI is led by the Northwest Development Agency (NWDA) and is supported by funds from NWDA and European Objective One funding. Merseyside Expanding Horizons play a vital role as Accountable Body


MSEI is not the only service in support of social enterprise on Merseyside. There are many other initiatives and organisations working hard to develop the sector.

HALTON
Halton People Into Jobs is a grant funded local project aimed at linking Halton unemployed people with Halton local employers.

KNOWSLEY
KUC's Community Based Economic Development Service aims to provide a range of services and self help initiatives which will help you to plan and start your own business or a community business.

LIVERPOOL
“Liverpool Plus” is an organisation aiming to support and develop the social enterprise sector in Liverpool. Its services include:

SEFTON
South Sefton Partnership are currently working on an action plan to help social enterprise in Sefton. If you are a social enterprise in South Sefton, or would like to start-up a social enterprise, South Sefton Partnership could offer you

ST HELENS
The Coalfields Regeneration Trust is an independent grant making organisation. It welcomes applications from groups organisations and social enterprises throughout Britain which are committed to the regeneration of coalfield areas - of which St Helen's is one.

WIRRAL
Wirral CVS offers the following support to the voluntary and community sectors: Advice/guidance - around a range of issues, Help with accounts Practical services, Quality Standards - a mentoring service to voluntary and community organisations.

HIGHER EDUCATION
John Moores University are delighted to announce the resounding success of their new Masters in Social Enterprise launched in 2003. As a result managers who work in the social enterprise sector or in organisations who have an interest in working alongside social enterprises are invited to apply to commence the next 3- year programme, which begins this September 2004
